Harry Harpics has several set prices for standard and not so standard services as outlined below:


  • Full Service T1/2 or 3   £155 inc parts
    change plugs, points, oil, set tappets, timing and mixture. Strip and check brakes. Check steering, grease axle. Check gearbox and mounts, top up fluid. Check clutch and brakes for free play. Grease door lock and hinges. Check brake hoses and pipes. Check tyres and set pressures. MOT check points i.e. any body corrosion, seatbelts, wipers, lights. Fill and test screen wash.
  • IRS (Independent Rear Suspension) Conversion for <1967 Buses  
    £1500 inc parts

    This conversion adds between 15-20 MPH to your overall top speed. It also gives you better fuel economy and a smoother ride quality whilst retaining many original parts. As well as being easy to revert back to stock should that be required at a later date.

    Remove engine and reduction box gearbox. Swap nosecone onto Beetle gearbox (which box depends on engine size to retain acceleration and top speed). Fit transmission to van. Fit Harry Harpics “A” arm clamps and modified bay 71> “A” arms. Fit supplied brake backplates, stub axles and bearing housing, brake shoes, cylinders and drums etc. Fit and set modified split springplates. Make and fit custom length copper brake pipes and flexi hose. Modify stock 63-67 handbrake cables. Adjust and bleed brakes. Build up driveshafts using bay shafts with T1 CV joint on inner end and T2 CV joint on outer end, fit to van. Modify clutch pressure plate to suit later gearbox. Re-fit engine. Fabricate and fit top shock absorber mounts to take stock length shocks (unless seriously low). Set camber and track as per bay specification on layer beam four wheel track system. Wheel adaptor supplied to return to wide 5 pattern.
  • Type 2 Lowering
      - Front any height : from £125 plus shocks
      - Rear any Height : from £125 plus shocks
      - Or both Front and Rear: from £225 plus shocks

  • Upgrade your stock 1600cc engine to a 1776, 1835 or 1914cc from £800
    Includes new heads etc..
  • Welding
    Most welding undertaken from small MOT fail patches, to heater channel and floor pan replacements (for Beetles).
    Other welding possible please call or email your welding needs to us.
  • Engine Fitting/Swaps
      Stock engines fitted from £80
      - Remove old faulty unit and replace with complete used item supplied by customer

      New or recon long block fitted and run up from £200
      - Remove old unit, swap tinware, ancillaries and exhaust etc onto new motor, run up and tune

      Tuned engine with external oil system from £350
      - Remove old unit, swap tinware etc. Fit auxiliary full flow oil system, twin carbs, run up and tune.
  • Drop spindles for split buses, convert customers units   from £295
    any worn or damaged parts extra. Not on exchange basis
